DELUXE GRAND ORIENT GLUTEN-FREE GETAWAY - The must see national treasures and wonders of the
world which we experienced included the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Terra Cotta Warriors,
Yangtze River country, the Three Gorges and the Dam, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The river boat
cruise on the Yangtze was a delightful three days with all the sights and activities available but also
in the great Gluten-free foods we were treated to. The cruise line brought on the Chef who had worked
with us on the previous two tours and once again he did his magic with rice flour, black and white, and
made the delightful “purple” bread for us as well as muffins, pancakes and other amazing baked goods and
desserts. Many changes have taken place in China since our first visit in 2004. One can tell that the
standard of living for the masses has improved greatly. Some of those signs include: The number of
Chinese seeing their own tourist spots has multiplied in massive numbers. The beautification of the
environment includes massive parks, green spaces and highway plantings. Chinese cities are always under
construction with massive high rises being built everywhere. Bicycles are no longer the main mode of
travel as China is now the world’s top auto market. The Chinese overpowering love of neon lights and
their cities beautifully ablaze with all colors and patterns of light when night falls. Yet still so
much history to take part in and so much charm of this wonderland that needs to be visited.

THE NORTH SEA CRUISE AND TOUR - The North Sea Cruise and Tour gave our group adventures in
Denmark, Norway, Scotland, England and Belgium. The ship offered our own Bob and Ruth’s Gluten-free
menu which featured just about all the items shown on the “regular” menu. We also had gluten-free
offerings for the afternoon teas, the chocolate extravaganza, as well as a farewell cocktail party
with gluten-free appetizers. The ports of call were Copenhagen, Oslo, Kristiansand, Bergen, Alesund,
Invergordon, Edinburgh, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Brussels, Dover and three days in London. Over the span of
our adventure we saw medieval kingdoms, castles, cathedrals, ruins, the Royal Mile, Tivoli Gardens,
the Hanseatic League port of Bryggen, the Falkirk Wheel, forts, old walls, Viking ships, the fjords
of Norway, the Highlands and Lochs of Scotland, lots of windmills, the white cliffs of Dover, Windsor
Castle, Stonehenge and so much more. The sights and sounds, the variety of foods, a congenial group of
fellow Gluten-free travelers, available choices of tours, even the lovely weather made this adventure
a true pleasure!

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA MINI - Three centuries of history surround this charming southern city with its
National Historic Landmark districts, its restored homes, moss draped oak trees, famous Revolutionary and
Civil war Battle sights, great places to explore, shop and wonderful places to eat. Highlights of the
Get-away included spending the nights in a unique renovated Riverfront area hotel which had been an old
cotton warehouse, tours of the historical district including the home of Juiliette Gordon Low (founder of
the Girls Scouts) gardens, museums, cooking demonstrations and exceptional food. Breakfasts offered were
from a Low Country Gluten-free menu with such selection as Eggs Benedict, French toast, Seafood Omelets,
Steak and Eggs and more! Dinners included such Gluten-free options as Low Country She Crab Soup, Macaroni
and Cheese, Summer Flounder, Corn Muffins, Garlic Cheese Biscuits, Sweet Potatoes and Pecan Vanilla Butter,
Praline Almond Baskets, and other mouth watering treats. Great food, beautiful weather and a congenial
group of travelers made for a fun time down in this Southern Antebellum Charmer.

CLUB MED TURKS AND CAICOS - Often labeled as an oasis for those whose only desire is to lounge on
the beach and partake of the sun, surf and sand, Turks and Caicos should be the destination of choice. The
wonderful white sand beaches are the best to be found. Due to the fact there is a four hundred plus mile
barrier reef protecting the island this gives the area the brilliant turquoise waters and some of the most
magnificent beaches in the Caribbean. The Club Med is located on Providenciales which is the main island and
once you get to the Club Med everything you can eat and drink gluten-free is all inclusive. We were quite spoiled
this year as two of the chefs there we had worked with previously at other Club Med locations. They were well
aware of what we wanted and some of the gluten-free goodies included lots of fried things (onion rings, fish,
chicken, wings), special pasta dishes, pizza, pancakes and lots of great baked desserts! This year we had the
most active participants who took advantage of many of the programs including snorkeling, deep sea fishing, under
sea exploring, kayaking, sailing, trapeze and so much more. Even the islands resident dolphin JoJo was out and
about for all to check out.

NEW ZEALAND AND HONOLULU, HAWAII - New Zealand may be a small island country but it offers a great
diversity of sights to be seen and activities to partake in. The tour stops we made had been set up to
show off the diversity of the country, the history, the geography, the cities, and the people. A visit
to the Cultural Center in Rotorua offered a better understanding of the unique Maori culture along with
the natural wonders of bubbling fumaroles, hissing geysers, boiling mud pools, hot springs and the distinct
aroma of sulfur through much of the town. A light hearted display of the nineteen most popular sheep breeds,
working sheep dogs, sheep shearing and more was found at the Agrodome Sheep Show. We saw why Auckland is
called the "city of sails", learned why Wellington is known as the "Windy city", shopped the crafts of the
country in Nelson and saw the natural beauty of the city of Christchurch which is known as "the Oxford of
the Pacific". We tasted wine, saw how kiwis grew, dined on lamb, venison, great New Zealand green lip mussels
(in the most delectable Provencal sauce), a wide variety of great gluten-free dishes and for the sweet meal
endings we experienced many different variations of the national desert dish, Pavlova which is a light baked
meringue with whipped cream and fruit. To break up the flight back home we had a three day stay in Honolulu,
Hawaii where we toured the new Pearl Harbor Memorial, Diamond Head, and a variety of city sites. Additional
time there included the beach, the sun, shopping, relaxing and of course more great gluten free food!

FALL FOLIAGE CANADA AND NEW ENGLAND CRUISE - Autumn in the Northeast United Sates and the
Canadian Maritime offers stunning kaleidoscopic colors. Leaving from the Port of Baltimore and
traversing down the Chesapeake Bay in a southerly direction until the Atlantic Ocean appears near
Norfolk Virginia. Then begins the leisurely cruise North along the East coast all the way up to Nova
Scotia. Ports of call included; Portland, Maine with it’s charming seaport atmosphere; Bar Harbor, Maine
a great example of down east hospitality which has drawn the rich and famous for years and offers Arcadia,
one of the most beautiful National Parks in the country; St John and the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick is
where the largest tide change in the world takes place daily; Halifax, Nova Scotia is the setting of
Evangeline county and has one of the most photographed light house in the world—Peggy’s Cove; and back

HARBOR PLACE - BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - Being just a bit biased we know that Baltimore Harbor Place
is one of the best cities for a tourist (or local) to enjoy. The inner harbor Renaissance hotel was the
base for the getaways participants which made it walking or water taxi distance to most of the highlights
of the city; The National Aquarium, Fort McHenry, Camden Yards, American Visionary Museum, Edgar Allen Poe’s
Grace, Babe Ruth’s Birthplace and Museum, Science Center, Fells Point and so much more. A meet and great
with Dr Alessio Fasano, founder and Medical Director of the Center for Celia Research – University of
Maryland and a tour of the center was arranged. Of course no trip to Baltimore would be complete with out
a crab feast and this was held at the Maryland family owned world famous Phillips Seafood Restaurant right
in Harbor Place.

CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA (CIA) VII HYDE PARK, NEW YORK - Starting off with an evening
wine and cheese get-together including the CIA'S Certified Master Baker Richard Coppedge, the three
day “glutton-Gluten-free” getaway began. After a morning guided tour of the schools kitchen and
sampling fresh out of the oven Gluten-free goodies there was time for shopping in the gift shop and
experiencing the ambiance of the school setting. Lunch was then held at the Ristorante Caterina de’Medici
in the magnificent Colavita Center. An afternoon wine tasting at a local “organic” winery, a bit of relaxation
and then on to the next “glutton” experience. The elegant Escoffier Restaurant offered up a Gluten-free Beef
Wellington with light flaky pastry crust.for this memorable dining experience. After a full breakfast at
the hotel, a tour of Eleanor Roosevelt’s cottage and grounds was the first stop on the agenda. The morning
was capped off with a tour of the Franklin D Roosevelt Home and Library.

SAFARI IN KENYA III / MASS MIGRATION - The flight to Kenya included a stopover for lunch
and a tour of Dubai. Touted as the modern miracle in the desert the tour included the world’s
tallest tower and the amazing Mall of the Emirates which even has an indoor ski slope! The safari
was timed to witness the mass migration of the zebra and wildebeests across the Rift Valley.
Thousands and thousands of photo were taken by the group including the big five – lion, elephants,
leopard, rhino and buffalo - along with hundred and hundreds of other creature, great and small.
Luxury accommodations included the world famous Mt Kenya Safari Club and luxury tenting—a not to
be missed adventure. Hot air ballooning over the valley and the wildlife below was a special treat
for all. The breakfast at the hippo pool, the sight of millions of flamingos flying in and around
Lake Nakuru, the sight of the snow capped peak of Mt Kenya, the thrill of the animals being just
feet from the safari van, the bush flight back to Nairobi, and so much more are those experiences
that will never to forgotten!

ISRAEL AND JORDAN - A nine day venture into the world of the Middle
East with its historical origin of the major religions of Judaism, Christianity, Islam and
the Bahai faith. Sights from the ancient world included Jaffa (one of the oldest ports in the
world), Caesarea (Roman center built by Herod) and Akko (Acre) a massive stronghold and fortress
from the days of the Knights Templar, Greeks, Romans, Crusaders and Ottomans. Crisscrossing most
all of Israel we visited the Sea of Galilee, The Dead Sea, Kibbutz and Moshavs, Masada, The Western
Wall, Temple Mount. Dome of the Rock, Mount of Olives, Dead Sea Scrolls, more churches, temples,
and mosques then could be imagined. Being extremely fortunate we were able to cross over into the
Palestine Authority Territory to visit the Church of the Nativity. A true not to be missed adventure
was entering into Jordan and experiencing the beauty and the wonders of Petra – a UNESCO World
Heritage Site which in 2007 was voted to be one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World”.

ALASKA INSIDE PASSAGE AND VANCOUVER - Starting out in Vancouver touring the local sights
and partaking of some of the city restaurants brought great eating adventures including Kobe
beef meat ball at an Italian restaurant, sushi with fresh salmon and rice wrapper spring rolls
and amazing chocolate cake for dessert. Once on the cruise, the critters were out and about for
view including whales, bears, sea otters, salmons, bald eagles, seals and more. The glaciers
were “calving” with the thunderous roars and the ice was “popcorning” around the ship. The stops
included along with Vancouver, Skagway, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay, and the Inside Passage. Wonderful
Gluten-free foods including ceviche, salmon, King crab legs, onion soup, blueberry and chocolate
chip muffins, Sachertorte, Boston Cream Pie, chocolate volcano cake and much more.

TULIPS AND THE ROMANTIC RHINE CRUISE AND TOUR - Flowers, castles galore, fairytale villages,
old world charm, great Gluten-free food and regional wines --- what more could anyone ask for?
Amsterdam showed us the Anne Frank House, the red light district, the Reijkamuseum, the wonderful
canals and unique restaurant offerings. Keukenhoff a 15th century estate of a Countess of Bavaria,
open for only two months a year offers over seven million spring flowers. Oh what a sight and what
a smell! Starting in Amsterdam, stops on the river boat cruise included Nimegue, Krefeld, Cologne,
Konigswinter, Rudescheim, Mannheim. Castle watching was the sport from Cologne down as the next
thirty five miles of the cruise has more castles than other river valley in the world. An added stay
in Strasbourg, France not only pleasured us with fantastic Gluten-free dining but the old world
enchantment of the La Petite France area we stayed in next to the Ill river made for a fairytale
setting. A day tour into the Alsace country side villages of Colmar and Ribeauville showed the charm
of the vineyards, farm fields, chateaus and castles.

CLUB MED - CANCUN, MEXICO - Managing to avoid back to back blizzards on the East Coast this sunny
escape to Cancun was our seventh winter getaway to the French Club Med chain. Over the years we have
gotten to know many of the property chefs and even though they tend to change locations occasionally,
we lucked out having two chefs which we had worked with a number of times previously. The Gluten-free
goodies abounded! Our band of merry sunshine lovers came from all over the US and we had a good mix of
newbies and regulars. Some visited pyramids and ancient Mayan sites such as Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba,
and Ek Balam. Others swam with the dolphins, went deep sea fishing, toured lagoons and took cruises to
the islands. Of course there was also the snorkeling, water sports and ball sports, shopping and most
of all just the sun and surf.

GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, ECUADOR & MACHU PICCHU, PERU - Two "once in a lifetime" trips wrapped up into one.
The critters on the Galapagos just as exciting as when viewed on Animal Planet only right there next to you
and in person! We enjoyed the Pichincha valley and the world famous markets of Otavalo. The capital city of
Quito surrounded by volcanoes is brimming with all the traditional Ecuadorian indigenous charm. The country of
Peru ranks high as one of the favorites in our travels. Machu Picchu is even more awe inspiring when seen for
oneself then when viewing the myriad of photos available. The Sacred Valley, the ruins of Ollantaytambe,
Sacssayhuaman, and the Inca Trail all show off the history of this civilization. Cusco brings all the flavors
of the ancient Inca culture meets the modern world in a magical mix of peoples, sights, sounds, smells and tastes.
The scenery of this high mountain county offered breathtaking vista every which way you turned, the altitude seems
to make the air crisp and clean and the sky brighter blue. Each of the hotels was unique with luxurious accommodations
and each stop had outstanding gluten-free foods to enjoy.
