Thanks to Portland’s outstanding gluten-free baking community, I can now finally enjoy my favorite gluten-free bread, donuts, and other gluten-free baked goods or cookies without any unpleasant side effects and without sacrificing either flavor or texture.

1) Gluten-Free Gem
Gluten Free Gem, which has a storefront on NE Broadway Street in the Lloyd District, is a dedicated gluten-free facility but only provides carry-out currently.
They have a wide selection of sweet and savory products, such as Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swiss Rolls, Cinnamon Cream Cheese Coffee Cake, Huge Fluffy Pretzels, Vegan Pumpkin Chai Cupcakes, Vegan Chocolate Ganache, Parmesan Herb Spinwheels, an enticing Broccoli Cheddar Quiche, Five Different Kinds of Donuts, Gingerbread Muffins, and Ginger Spice Cookies.
To prevent any possibility of cross-contamination with gluten, according to their website, they
conduct extensive ingredient research to ensure that everything they use in their facility is free of gluten.
They also educate their employees about the possibility of cross-contamination from other food allergies and their awareness of gluten.
Therefore, they are my top choice because they not only make delicious pastries but also consider the potential health risks of gluten contamination for people with celiac disease.
2) New Cascadia Traditional
The first dedicated gluten-free bakery is New Cascadia Traditional in Portland. You can locate this bakery in SE Portland at 2502 Division St.
They have been producing pastries and bread that are gluten-free and of the best quality and taste for more than ten years.
Examples include bread/buns, breakfast sandwiches, cakes, bagels, baguettes, pizza, quiches, sandwiches, scones, cookies, cupcakes, desserts, donuts, muffins, pastries, and wedding cakes.
Their bread is one thing I particularly enjoy the most because it is typically soft and fluffy. New Cascadia is undoubtedly unique.
Everything they produce is so almost similar to its counterpart that contains gluten.
Additionally, all New Cascadia Traditional products are certified gluten-free by the Gluten-Free Cert Organization (GFCO).
3) Mikiko Mochi Donuts
Here you have it! Amazing donuts bakery!! It’s one of the best places to go whenever we need a doughnut. You can find this doughnut store.at 300 NE 28th Ave, Portland.
Except for the breakfast sandwich, which contains dairy, all of the donuts are dairy-free (although you can order it without cheese which makes it dairy free). You should check them out.
4) Kyra’s Bakeshop
This store is named after its creator and owner, Kyra Bussanich, who has won four times and finished in second place twice on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars while baking gluten-free goods.
How does “she is a world-class gluten-free baker” sound? Safe right?!
You can eat in confidence and feel secure here.
You can get cupcakes, donuts, muffins, and other baked goods in her bakeries.
The donuts resemble cake more than a donut, which seems to be standard with gluten-free donuts most of the time, and they are delicious!
In the United States, let alone in Portland, Kyra’s Bake Shop has established itself as one of the top gluten-free bakeries. So, you may want to visit them.
5) St. Honoré Bakery
There are only a few gluten-free options, most of which are sweet.
However, their lemon cake is what I loved the most!
It tasted great! It is crucial to remember that this establishment is NOT solely a gluten-free facility. Even though gluten-free items are marked clearly on the main menu, there is still the risk of cross-contamination, which may not be safe for those with celiac disease.
6) Petunia’s Pies and Pastries
Petunia’s has experienced rapid growth since its founder, Lisa Clark, launched it in 2010 at a few of Portland’s farmers’ markets.
The downtown Portland location opened in 2014 and is a must-visit for me whenever I’m in the city.
This bakery is exclusively vegan and gluten-free.
In Petunia’s, you can find a wide selection of savory and sweet treats like cupcakes, donuts, biscuits, and some heartier meals.
Petunia’s is among the best places in Portland to find gluten-free ice cream because it is made in a gluten-accessible facility.
7) Sarah Bellum’s Bakery
In 2017, Sarah Bellum’s Bakery began selling cupcakes at neighborhood farmers’ markets. Then, in December 2018, they opened their first store in Portland, Oregon’s Multnomah Village.
They provide a selection of excellently made cupcakes made with high-quality organic ingredients.
They offer gluten-free and vegan options in a kitchen free of peanuts, soy, and artificial colors.
8) Unicorn Bake Shop
This bakery has a wide variety of options for cupcakes, all of which are deliciously sweet and moist.
The store is located at 2824 SE Gladstone St. and has a team of fun and welcoming individuals.
While every effort is made to keep gluten-containing and gluten-free products apart, this bakery is not a dedicated gluten-free kitchen.
So, it may not be the best place to visit if you have a severe gluten allergy.
